Off-campus trainings for cops eyed
Three mandatory career courses for police personnel are sought to be held off-campus.
This, after the Chief Executive Senior Police Officer of the PNP recommended to the Acting Chief Directorial Staff Police Director Perfecto Palad the possibility of the conduct of Public Safety Officers Career Course, Public Safety Senior Leadership Course and Public Safety Junior Leadership Course outside the training centers of Philippine National Training Institute (PNTI).
PNTI is the major constituent unit of the Philippine Public Safety College, which is mandated to conduct through its 18 Regional Training Schools in the country, the career and specialized courses of the police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs) to meet their training needs and to make them more responsive to the increasingly demanding role of a police officer.
The move for holding off-campus trainings will cater more numbers of trainees whose lack for promotion are the above mentioned courses.
Police Regional Office 6 director, Police Chief Superintendent Isagani R Cuevas, said this plan if materialized will benefit a lot of personnel who cannot be accommodated in PNTI training centers and suffer delays in their promotion due to lack of required mandatory courses.
Thus, Cuevas directed the Regional Executive Senior Police Officer IV Adolfo V. Cabansal, to immediately submit the list of qualified personnel who need or lack said trainings. The data will be considered in the finalization of the proposed program. (Jeramae C. Rio)
