City’s ‘Makulay ang Buhay’ feeding program launched in 5 barangays
The Bacolod City Government, through the Department of Social Services and Development, launched over the past week, the “Makulay ang Buhay ng Batang Pinoy” supplemental feeding program, in five key barangays.
The initial launching of the feeding program aims to benefit at least 150 undernourished children aged three to six years old.
The launching activities were held in Barangays Tangub (March 17), Taculing and Handumanan (March 18), Banago and Estefania (March 19) led by DSSD head Sally Abelarde and Councilor Homer Bais.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said that this program is one of the main reasons why Bacolod City has been a consistent recipient of the Green Banner Award (awarded by the National Nutrition Council to local government units with oustanding nutrition programs) and of the CROWN (Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition) award.
An annual activity of the city government in coordination with various private companies and organizations, the feeding program targets pre-school children who are undernourished.
Through this program, pre-school children are given nutritious food and milk everyday for six months. The program also helps parents to provide their children with nutritious food and milk for proper nourishment.
