Suspicions, speculations
Mayor Jerry Treñas believes that his political enemies are behind the grenade throwing incident at their ancestral house, which is being occupied by his brother Francis, early morning yesterday. Although he did not mention any name in radio interviews it is clear that the mayor is alluding to the camp of former Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. He linked the latest grenade throwing incident to previous cases involving his family such as the alleged harassment on his children, and the grenade throwing at Carlo’s Bakeshop. Unfortunately, there have been no evidence that would link the two grenade throwing incidents to the Gonzalez camp. In other words, the mayor’s suspicion is a mere product of speculation. What if there is a third party taking advantage of the political rift between him and Gonzalez? There is a lot possibilities that is why it is very dangerous to make a conclusion.
Parking on Iznart Ext.
Both sides of Iznart Street extension (starting at Plazoletagay up to corner Rizal St.) are always full of parking vehicles affecting the flow of traffic in the area especially during peak hours. It is very clear that parking on both sides of the street is not allowed but nobody cares. Kagawad Tong-tong Plagata once implemented a crackdown on parking vehicles in the said area but it did not last long. Apparently Kagawad Tong-tong stopped his crusade of putting order on the traffic situation in the City Proper. Sin-o ayhan ang masunod nga makahawan sang Iznart Street?
Dream project
One of the promises commonly made by candidates in Iloilo City in their caucuses is the establishment of the Iloilo City Public College. There’s even one candidate saying that if he wins the Iloilo City Public College would open by June 2011. For sure, a miracle can make it happen. Such proposal had been pushed way way back, but Mayor JPT will be ending his nine years stint without having it realized.
