The above unsolicited personal list is a result of my months of discernment. My bases are: sincerity in serving the marginalized sectors, track record, platform of government, character and integrity. Of course, the list may still be reconfigured depending on the updates of the local and national campaigns from this day up to April 10.
I am sure that some of the readers already have their own partial, incomplete list. This might come in handy during the actual automated elections where erasures or over-listing may mean electoral disenfranchisement.

The newly-opened library hub of Iloilo City at the Division of City Schools building in Mabini Street is slated to receive another P100,000 worth of books from the Aurelio V. Montinola Sr. Foundation.
We just hope that the library will really be used by the public, especially the students, exhaustively and freely.

Ilonggos will converge today, March 25, for a clean-up of the Iloilo River in relation to the celebration of World Water Week.
Hopefully, the cleaning of our historic and strategic Iloilo River will be done on a daily basis. This is a call for vigilance and active involvement of the prime stakeholders—the residents and business establishments on the banks of the watercourse.

The province and city of Iloilo emerged as having the most of rabies cases in Western Visayas, according to the DOH.
Indeed, our politicians are more rabid than ever! That explains why many areas—including Iloilo City—are now under the category 1 election watch list.

The number of children sexually abused by US Roman Catholics and church payouts for clergy sex cases fell sharply last year, a report commissioned by US bishops said recently. Some 400 new allegations of clergy sex abuse were reported in the United States in 2009, down from 620 cases in 2008 and 889 in 2004, when the first report tracking child predators in the US Catholic Church was issued.
I wonder if there’s a statistics like this in the Philippines.

The elder son of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has teamed up with the son of suspected “jueteng” lord Bong Pineda to gain seats in the House of Representative as nominees of a party-list group that claims to represent security guards.
The guile! The misplaced guts! Shame on them!

Unidentified men lobbed a grenade at the house of Francis, the brother of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, early Tuesday. No one was injured but the house was damaged. The explosion occurred barely two weeks after a grenade explosion also damaged a pastry shop owned by the mayor.
The suspect is no less than you know who. But you know who quickly alleges it was not him. He even asserts more that the bombing was just one of the stage acts of Jerry who is currently leading in various local surveys. He even apparently says that it was a stupid thing for him to do such a thing for he is even doing well in his own campaign. One need not be a PhD degree holder to know the real truth to this issue. With that, I rest my case.

A teacher of Jaro National High School is currently being accused of sexual harassment and imposition of illegal fees.
DepEd must check on this in all the other high schools. It might not be an isolated case.
