Bacolod bags 16 awards in Pana-ad Festival
Bacolod City bagged a total of 16 awards in the recently held17th Pana-ad sa Negros Festival.
The city ranked fourth for “Best Destination Pavilion” and topped the Daily Star People’s Choice Award of the same competition. The booth competition was judged according to physical attraction and presentation, marketing and promotion value and level of service that pertains to the people manning the booth.
Bacolod’s Panaad pavilion, aptly named “Balay Bacolodnon”, is a replica of the new and old landmarks of the city with the front view depicting the New Government Center and the back view featuring the city plaza bandstand.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia decided last year to have a more modern and an even bigger Panaad pavilion for Bacolod City that will truly reflect what the city has become throughout the years.
The mayor stressed that the pavilion is a substantial contribution to the cause of the Panaad concept and is a showcase to all the cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental.
Depicting the MassKara Festival, the Bacolod City’s float won third place and second place in the Most Colorful Festival Costume.
Lin-ay sang Negros-Bacolod Christine Daphne Villanueva was the Sunstar Reader’s Choice, Gandang Index Salon-Special Award recipient and was among the top ten finalists during the search.
Bacolod was the champion in Latin Dance Sport Juvenile Division and third place in the Amateur Division; pop dance champion; drums and bugle corps, ranked second and third in secondary and elementary categories respectively; ranked third in the Negros Pop Song Writing and Best Interpreter; ranked third in pop singing contest; and consolation prize in Folk Dance competition.
This festival was participated by the 13 cities and 19 towns in the province showcasing the best of their respective localities.
