Treñas to Basngi: Solve twin bombing incidents
Could he be the Messiah that Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has been looking for?
Following the installation of Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi as Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) officer-in-charge, the first order of the day is to solve the twin bombing incidents that apparently aimed against Treñas and his family.
“I hope he would look for solution to the two bombing incidents that happened here in Iloilo City. I want him to bring to justice whoever was responsible for what happened,” the mayor said claiming that he did not lose faith in the police force despite what happened.
Treñas also said that he trusted the PNP, “kay kung indi kita magsalig sa aton kapulisan, that would be the end of it.”
The first bombing incident involved the Carlos’s Bakeshop and Cafe, which is located just beside the house of Treñas at Brgy. Dungon, Jaro district.
The second incident hit the Treñas ancestral house at Brgy. Taal, Molo district last March 23.
Aside from the two incidents, the mayor also wanted Basngi to continue the conduct of checkpoints.
“These checkpoints are deterrent to anyone who might be planning to do other bombings here,” he added.
Further, Treñas’ marching orders also include efforts to ensure a fair, honest, orderly, and peaceful election.
Also, the city chief executive wanted the new ICPO leadership to solve the three murder cases – one involving a former police officer and the two assassination in Jaro district.
Meanwhile, the mayor has assured Basngi of the city government’s continued support to the city police force.
Treñas said that the three multi-cabs for ICPO would be ready for distribution next week.
The city government will be purchasing 5 patrols for the different stations.
He also claimed that they would continue the giving of P1,200 monthly allowance to the more than 500 ICPO cops.
