P400K lost in Good Friday robbery
Instead of meditating, three men spend their Good Friday robbing a bakeshop at Ledesco Village, Barangay Tabuc Suba, La Paz, Iloilo.
The hold-up men carted some P400,000 from Sari-Sari Bread Store, which holds office at J and V Building.
According to police accounts, it was at around 9:30 in the morning when the three suspects barged inside the office of Sari-Sari Bread Store, which employed no blue guard.
When the incident happened, there were 10 employees and 2 cashiers.
Reports said that the suspects managed to gain entrance after one of the cashiers went out of the office.
Since the door was unlocked, the suspects immediately sneaked and, at gunpoint, held up Mary Grace Barcelona, 41, of Villa Lorenzo, Brgy. Loboc, La Paz district.
Barcelona, the store’s executive assistant, just received the store’s weekly remittance.
After the incident, witnesses told police investigators that the three suspects fled on a board a taxi marked GDR and a red motorcycle.
They reportedly sped off going to the coastal area of La Paz.
According to La Paz Police commander Chief Insp. Giovanni Musico, the employees could not give clear physical description of the suspects.
“When we asked the people near the place, namukhaan naman sila,” he added.
One of the identified suspects is a resident of La Paz district while the two robbers are only known through the description given by witnesses.
Musico said that it is also possible that the two other suspects are from La Paz area.
With all angles being considered, he added that they are also considering the possibility of an inside job since the suspects apparently knew that last Friday was the remittance day of the bakeshop’s branches.
“But we are also looking at the possibility that the store was subjected to surveillance,” Musico stated.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi already ordered for a manhunt operation against the suspects.
He also directed every police station to strengthen the conduct of checkpoints and dragnet operation on the possible hide out of the suspects.
Likewise, the newly-installed city police chief also called for an emergency conference with ICPO Key personnel and elements of PNP Regional Intelligence Division for the speedy solution of the case.
