NPA harasses army detachment in Jamindan
ROXAS CITY – Some 15 to 18 armed men believed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA) harassed the army detachment in Sto. Rosario, Jamindan last Monday by spraying their M-16 armalite rifles towards the detachment.
Sr. Insp. Nonato Daradar, police chief of Jamindan police station, said in a radio interview that he confirmed the report after some 100 empty shells of armalite rifles and one bullet of M203 live ammunition were recovered at the scene of incident.
According to him, luckily no one was hurt during the strafing incident.
Daradar said that rebels want to show that they still exist and operate in the area of Jamindan as well as neighboring towns in Capiz.
To recall, Globelines telecommunication company cell site in Sto. Rosario, a few kilometers away from Camp Peralta, was blasted by a group of armed men believed to be members of NPA.
Daradar also said that due to the incident, the army detachment was installed to prevent the armed men from repeating the incident.
Hot pursuit against perpetrators, who withdraw after the strafing, is still conducted as of press time.
