Fair highlights Guimaras products, tourism
The Manggahan sa Robinson of the island province of Guimaras has been attracting mall goers since it opened on April 5.
The activity kicked-off the yearly Manggahan Festival of the province slated on April 11- 18, this year.
The fair features preserved and processed foods with the province’s famous mango ingredients such as piaya, ketchup, juice, pickles, jellies and jam.
Also available are delicacies made with cashew nuts and banana.
Products using local materials such as buri bags showcasing the resourcefulness of the Guimarasnons are also on display.
Another attraction of the fair are the galleons and toy boats crafted by the Guimaras Model Galleon Makers Association.
The five-day fair also serves as a venue for the province to showcase its agri-tourism potentials and tourist destinations. Manggahan Festival 2010 is anchored on the theme “Sustainable Agri-Eco Tourism; through Community-based Approach”.
Governor Felipe Nava, Department of Tourism 6 Director Edwin Trompeta and Department of Interior and Local Government 6 Director Evelyn Trompeta opened the fair which will run until Friday, April 9. (PIA)
