1,826 Bacoleños benefit from SPES
The City Public Employment Services Office (PESO) recorded 1,826 youths in the city who will be benefiting from the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) this summer.
City PESO Head, Moises de la Cruz said these 1,826 will be assigned to their respective barangays to do surveys, skills mapping and manpower pooling. There are 500 and 1, 326 of them will be working for 22 and 15 days, respectively.
Mr. de la Cruz also said SPES is a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that aims to develop the intellectual capabilities of out-of-school-youths to update the skills map and labor force inventory.
“This program allows the students to work this summer, so they can have the money for their enrollment in the opening of classes”, de la Cruz said.
Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia said this program of the national government is really beneficial to our students. “It will not only help harness their potentials towards industrialization, this will also provide them with income to subsidize their studies”, Leonardia said.
The 1,826 will undergo orientation this afternoon, April 8 at the BAYS Center for their summer jobs that will start April 12.
