Girl believed to be raped found dead
A 10-year old girl believed to be raped was found dead yesterday morning at Brgy. Abilay Norte, Oton, Iloilo.
Nene (not her real name) was naked waist down when found at the vegetative portion of Brgy. Abilay Norte.
Branches of tree and grasses were used to hide the girl’s body.
Barangay tanods and the victim’s family discovered the body at around 6:30 in the morning, more than 14 hours after her family began looking for her.
Reports said that after lunch yesterday, Nene told her mother that she would go to a wake at their neighbor to play bingo.
According to barangay secretary Imelda Subese, the victim’s mother became worried after Nene did not return home two hours later.
At around 4:00 p.m., a search was made to locate Nene.
Using a flashlight, they scoured the area concentrating on a river, where a clearing operation was held a week ago.
Subese claimed that tanods and the victim’s kin also looked for Nene at the area where her body was found.
“Pero daw ginghungod nga gintago kag basi nga ginhaboy lang didto kay daw wala man palatandaan nga didto natabo ang krimen,” she claimed.
Meanwhile, the Oton Police Station’s Women and Children’s Desk temporarily refused to give out further details while investigation is going on.
A Grade 4 pupil of Cabuluan Elementary School, Nene is the youngest of the four children.
The victim’s father is a pedicab driver while her mother accepts laundry job.
