Cop-witness in Carlo’s bombing goes AWOL
The policeman who stood as witness in the bombing incident at Carlo’s Bakeshop and Cafe was marked AWOL (absent without official leave) very recently.
According to Jaro Police Station commander Chief Insp. Orly Gabinete, PO1 Rudy Vencer did not report for duty from April 4 until yesterday, April 13.
In his report, Gabinete claimed that he exerted all efforts to contact Vencer but his whereabouts could not be ascertained.
To note, the AWOLed cop stands as witness to the bombing of the bakeshop owned by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas last March 8.
In gist, Vencer alleged that he saw Chief Insp. Musa Amiyong, then the deputy chief of the Iloilo City Public Safety Management Company, near the crime scene.
The said allegation was in consonance to the rumors circulating that Amiyong was seen riding a motorcycle in the area when the bombing incident occurred.
PNP-owned motorcycle used by Amiyong, rumors claimed, was later kept in a fence at the house of PO1 Ronnie Refugio.
Both Amiyong and Refugio are known allies of Treñas’ political nemesis, former Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez, who is running for the city mayoral race.
But Vencer’s statement somehow contradicted to reports that he was absent when the bombing occurred.
Vencer was supposed to render duty in the mobile patrol stationed near Treñas’ house when the incident happened.
