Iloilo top festivals’ send off parade for Aliwan today
Three winning festivals of Iloilo will give Ilonggos a sneak preview of their best performances during a send off parade for Aliwan Fiesta 2010 at the Freedom Grandstand 4 p.m. today (Friday).
The parade of Tribu Paghidaet, Tribu Kasag and Grupo Fuerte Baile contingents will kick off from San Jose to Muelle Loney then passing Arroyo St. to JM Basa St. all the way to the Freedom Grandstand for the program.
The 2010 Dinagyang Festival champion Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School, Kasadyahan Festival winner Tribu Kasag of Banate, Iloilo and Grupo Fuerte Baile of Paraw Regatta are preparing hard for the million-peso Aliwan crown during the 18-entry competition in Aliw Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City on April 24.
Last year, Tribu Kasag won second place while Paghidaet and Dinagyang Float both ended third place as the crown went to Buyogan Festival of Abuyog, Leyte.
This year, the Aliwan grand parade of performers and giant floats will kick off from the back of SM Mall of Asia starting at 4 p.m., with the culminating streetdance showdown taking place in front of the Aliw Theater and awarding ceremonies consequently.
Meanwhile, the Reyna ng Aliwan Pageant will take centerstage on April 23 at 7 p.m. at the same venue.
Organized in 2003, Aliwan Fiesta is touted as the mother of all festivals bringing together the grandest festivals from all over the country into one colourful cultural extravaganza.
