Motherhood statements
All politicians proclaim that they have all the good intentions in running for office. Nobody says he will steal people’s money or use his position for personal interest once elected. All we hear are good promises: quality health care and education, jobs for all, effective delivery of public services, etc. Apparently, what politicians blurt out are mere motherhood statements which anybody can also promise. That is why the voters should scrutinize very well their candidates. It’s not enough that the candidates appear good or kind (all of them appear good or kind since they need your votes) or they have good promises or they claim to have a lot of achievements. Voters should study the candidate’s track record and performance and their capability to hold public office. Madamo da nga maayo lang sa kampanya pero kun sa pwesto na gani wala man hinimuan.
Using the poor
It’s a pity that every election politicians use as reason for their running their alleged vision to help uplift the lives of the poor. Many elections have passed but still the poor remains poor. In fact, they become poorer. Ironically, while the poor continue to suffer, the politicians (who promised to uplift the lives of the poor) live in abundance. Just take a look at the houses, cars, businesses and the lifestyle of the politicians. Kawawang Juan de la Cruz!
Trixie vs. Lando
The one-on-one mayoral fight in San Enrique, Iloilo is something to watch out for. Apparently, incumbent and last-termer Mayor Trixie Fernandez is enjoying a comfortable lead over her opponent Lando Cordero, but Trixie’s camp is not complacent since there are reports that Cordero will again shower the people of San Enrique with lots of money. Madumduman nga sang 2007 election diutayan lang mapierde si Trixie kay Cordero. Balantayan ini!
