Cuevas goes head on vs Lopezes, supporters
Police are surely on top of the peace and order situation in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
This, PNP Regional Director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas stressed, as he ordered the arrest of any person who would stop residents from passing the road at Bagacay, San Dionisio town.
Cuevas’ statement was in reference to earlier report that Brgy. Capt. Eugenio Eusebio Lopez, who is also running for the town’s mayoralty seat, again stopped some barangay folks passing the road, sandwiched at the Lopez property.
“I already directed police personnel to conduct patrol in the area. I ordered them to immediately arrest the barangay captain (Eusebio Lopez) and his supporters if they violate the Revised Penal Code or other crimes,” he added.
Last Sunday, reports said that tension gripped Brgy. Bagacay anew after Lopez stopped some individuals who wished to pass the road where their hacienda is also located.
When members of San Dionisio PNP proceeded to the area, they did not catch anyone on the act doing the reported incident.
San Dionisio PNP chief Insp. Joven Arevalo said that they are still verifying the report and coordinating with the persons who were allegedly stopped.
There was one person who also complained that he was forced to enter the Lopez property.
Recently, Cuevas decided to deploy 30 additional policemen from the 6th Regional Public Safety Management Battalion following the disarming incident last April.
Eusebio and his brother, Vice Mayor Peter Paul Lopez, indulged in a heated argument that led the two brothers to allegedly poke their guns at the five responding cops.
The cops responded after receiving reports that Eusebio prevented some people from passing the road.
There were even reports that he allegedly asked for money from people who wished pass by the area.
After the heated confrontation, Lopez supporters disarmed two cops with their handgun and an armalite rifle.
Days after the incident, the cops filed eight charges against the two brothers, 10 others, and 20 John Does.
The other camp also filed criminal and administrative charges against the five cops.
