Partylist representation
Lawmakers should better review the partylist system in our country for the next elections because it is being abused by power hungry politicians as well as unscrupulous organizations. Imagine there are 187 partylist groups vying for seats in the House of Representatives this May 10, 2010 elections. Except for a handful legitimate sectoral groups, most of the partylist groups seeking for election are connected to existing politicians or government officials while some are groups are identified with the leftists. The main purpose of the partylist election which is sectoral representation is defeated as the same traditional politicians take the helm of most of the partylist organizations. Maybe the right thing to do is to totally scrap the partylist representation in Congress.
Unruly supporters
Gubernatorial candidate Cong. Arthur Defensor nearly walked out from the candidates’ forum of Aksyon Radyo the other night because of the unruly supporters of his opponent Barotac Viejo Mayor Raul Tupas. The “hakot crowd” of Mayor Tupas inside the covered gym of Zarraga were so boisterous and did not adhere to the house rules employed by Aksyon Radyo in the conduct of the candidates’ forum that they should not disrupt a candidate when speaking. It appears the “hakot crowd” of Tupas were uncivilized as they do not know how to obey simple instructions. Ano’ng masiling mo Kams?
Black propaganda
As the D-day which is May 10 draws near, all sorts of propaganda—negative or positive—come out from different political camps whether it be in the national or local level. Well, black propaganda is just normal in any election, it happens even in other countries. It just depends on the voting public if they believe in it or, said in another perspective, it depends if the propaganda is true or not. Sa black propaganda, masakitan man lang ang may pilas.
