One dead, one hurt in motorcycle crash
Another mishap added to the long list of motorcycle accidents in Iloilo.
This time around, it claimed the life of a 29-year old man and wounded his brother.
The fatality was identified as Marvin Montealto of Brgy. Panique, Oton, Iloilo while injured was his younger brother Marlon.
Reports said that the duo came from Brgy. Sta. Ana, San Joaquin, Iloilo, where Marvin’s wife resides.
At around 8:30 p.m. of Wednesday, reports said that Montealto was traversing the Oton highway when they crashed through a multi-cab driven by Jessel Acolet of Florville Subdivision, Brgy. Buray, Oton.
According to Oton Police Station traffic investigation, the multi-cab was maneuvering a left turn when the motorcycle tried to overtake.
Montealto apparently miscalculated the distance and crashed to the left side of the multi-cab.
Due to the impact, the two brothers were thrown out of the motorcycle, which was also badly wrecked.
They landed on the shoulder of the road.
It was gathered that both victims were wearing crash helmets but it was also smashed from the impact.
Both were rushed to Guimbal District Hospital.
While Marlon was not critically injured, Marvin did not pull through.
Investigation revealed that both victims were under the influence of liquor when the incident happened.
