Iloilo’s 2nd flyover is now 80% complete
The second flyover project in Iloilo City is now 80% complete and it is expected to be completed before May 15.
This was disclosed by Director Rolando M. Asis during the PIA interview as he pointed out that the main structure of the flyover project is now completed and what is set to be constructed now is the bridge approaches.
The project which is one of the legacies of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo aims to improve the economy through development of road infrastructure facilities that would promote efficient transport of goods and services in Western Visayas, Director Asis said.
Director Asis said that the second flyover project has an allocation of some P386.6 Million and when completed it will have a length of 282 meters and the width of 7.5 meters.
“Specifically the flyover’s length is 195 meters plus 87 meters of the bridge approaches,” Asis explained.
The construction of the project started last December 22, 2009 and has provided jobs to some 100 to 150 Ilonggos.
As to the bridge approaches, the DPWH 6 Director said that all the abutments and their foundation will be carefully constructed to maintain the safety and function of the bridge. And as soon as the approach fill has settled then follows the asphalt pavement. (PIA6/T.Villavert)
