Propaganda vs. truth
With less than two weeks left before election day, the radio and TV airlanes as well as newspaper space are bombarded with paid political propaganda either promoting or discrediting a candidate. With the proliferation of political propaganda through the media, the voting public should be more discerning, they should not immediately believe what they hear or read. The radio listener or newspaper reader should be guided that paid political propaganda naturally promotes or defends the candidate which pays for it. In other words the voting public should not easily believe the propaganda rather they should search for the truth.
Bong Revilla
Of all the candidates in the coming May 10 election, only Sen. Bong Revilla had a bright idea on how to be ahead of the others as far as name listing on the ballot is concerned. He has managed to include as part of his surname “Revilla” his nickname “Bong” that is why he is number 8 in the ballot. As listed in the ballot his family name is “Bong Revilla” while his first name is “Ramon Jr.” and his nickname is “Kap.” In the succeeding automated elections expect other candidates whose family names start in letters near the end of the alphabet to do the same.
From orange to yellow
Talks are rife that Mayor Jerry T. will change his political color from orange to yellow in the last minute. Insiders from the Liberal Party said that his brother Joemarie is negotiating for the transfer. Mayor Jerry reportedly got mad after the Nacionalista Party totally entrusted to Emily Lopez the handling of the campaign of presidential bet Manny Villar in the city and province of Iloilo. Let’s see what happens in the remaining days before election day.
