Easy win for 6 Iloilo mayors, 5 vice mayors as polls ready for nearly 4M WV voters
And it is finally D-Day for nearly 4 million Western Visayas voters amidst earlier concerns of no election or at least, partial poll scenario.
As such, it is all-systems go for the region with established precincts of 26,002 as clustered into 6,406 precincts only.
In Iloilo, one vote is all it takes to declare as winners the six mayors and five vice mayors who were all unopposed.
Single vote and sure win already for Ajuy Mayor Juan Alvarez of Lakas-Kampi and Vice Mayor Jose Rojas IV of the Nacionalista Party (NP).
Easy win too for Anilao Vice Mayor June “Pitsik” Sargado also of the NP, Dueñas Mayor Robert Pama, Guimbal Mayor Chrstine Garin and Vice Mayor Mary Ann Suyao, both re-electionists.
No worries too for Oton Mayor Vicente Flores and Vice Mayor Jose Neil Olivares and Tigbauan Mayor James Excelsior Torres and Vice Mayor Roel Jarina.
Meantime, it would be in the Municipality of San Miguel, Iloilo where aftershocks of the elections will be felt the most. This, as San Miguel town tops the most number of candidates with five for mayor, five for vice mayor and 33 for councilors. Day after election day, total of 34 bets here will have to concede.
In contrast is the town of Ajuy in Northern Iloilo where only four councilorables will be left behind. Said town is also recorded as the one with the least number of candidates.
In terms of voters, component city of Passi ranks highest at 47,174 as compared to Bingawan’s 7,893 only.
Police and the military will be on highest alert alongside volunteer civic groups in what stands as a historical election for the country.
