Molding pieces of the earth
GK Sooc Youth Artist Group held a 3-day Terracotta exhibit at SM Delgado Iloilo last April 22-24,2010. It was sponsored by the Smart Kabalikat project in partnership with Gawad Kalinga. The event was themed “ Halad Duta: A Terracotta Exhibit”.
The purpose of the event was to showcase the work of art of the GK Sooc Youth Artist trained by the multi-awarded Ilonggo painter and sculptor PG Zoluaga. This has been their third exhibit since October 2009.
PG Zoluaga was enlisted to train an initial batch of 48 children-residents of the GK Sooc Village in Terracotta Art. Smart explored this kind of art as an alternative source of livelihood for the children of GK Sooc to help their parents in a way of molding clay and pottery-making.
The said exhibit was in participation for the earth day celebration in which they aim to gather 10 million signatures for the 10 Million Movement (10 MM).
