11 mayors, nine vice mayors reelected in Aklan
KALIBO, Aklan — Eleven local mayors and nine vice mayors were reelected in the May 10, 2010 automated elections, majority of them aligned with Lakas-Kampi party, in the province of Aklan.
Among those reelected local chief executives were Edgar Peralta (New Washington), Victor Fernandez (Lezo), Charito Navarosa (Libacao), Ramon Legaspi Jr. (Makato), Quezon Labindao (Buruanga), Delfina Ramos (Batan), Maria Lourdes Miraflores (Ibajay), Rex Gubatina (Madalag), all Lakas-Kampi mayoral bets and Antonio Maming Sr. of Lapiang Manggagawa (Banga).
Two reelectionist-mayors were unopposed–Gene Fuentes of Tangalan and Romeo Dalisay of Nabas, both of Lakas-Kampi.
Teodoro Calizo, Jr. of Balete and Denny Refol of Altavas were the two comebacking mayors reelected. Calizo of Nacionalista Party has no opponent while former mayor Refol (Lapiang Manggagawa) defeated his wife, incumbent mayor Dr. Kathryne Refol of Liberal Party.
The new mayors proclaimed by the Commission on Elections were incumbent vice mayor John Yap (Lakas-Kampi) of Malay, former vice mayor William Lachica (Bigkis Pinoy) of Kalibo, councilor Wilbert Ariel Igoy (Lakas-Kampi) of Malinao and Adolfo Iligan (Partido ng Masang Pilipino) of Numancia.
Meanwhile, eight new vice mayors were elected–councilor Joly Solita of Lapiang Manggagawa (Altavas), Roman Villaruel (Balete), Joseph Pierre Teodosio of Nacionalista Party (Banga), Allan Dagohoy of Lakas-Kampi (Buruanga), incumbent mayor Ciceron Cawaling of Nacionalista Party (Malay), councilor Madeline Regalado of Bigkis Pinoy (Kalibo), councilor Nerli dela Cena of Lakas-Kampi (Makato) and councilor Josephine Iquina of Lakas-Kampi (Malinao).
Reelected vice mayors were Jed Tirol (Liberal Party) for Tangalan, Evangeline Ibabao (Lakas-Kampi) for Numancia, Jean Velarde (Lakas-Kampi) for New Washington, Jayner Demeterio (Lakas-Kampi) for Batan, Nelson Santamaria (Lakas-Kampi) for Ibajay, Ramon Zapata (Lakas-Kampi) for Libacao (Lakas-Kampi), James Solanoy (Lakas-Kampi) for Nabas, Philip John Buenaflor for Lezo and Orlando Inosanto (Liberal Party) for Madalag.
