NSO 6 all set for the 2010 Census of Population and Housing
It’s all systems go for the conduct of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), according to National Census and Statistics (NSO) 6 Regional Director Norman Julag-ay.
The 2010 CPH will start on May 17 until completed first week of June, as a mandated activity under Batas Pambansa Blg.72 and Proclamation No. 2028.
Julag-ay said they have already completed training of census enumerators and census supervisors and the paraphernalia and interview schedule consisting of about four sets of forms.
Nationwide, the NSO workforce is augmented by more than 67,100 enumerators, 13,500 team supervisors and 3,500 census area supervisors, three-fourths of the total 90,000 census field workers come from the Department of Education, covering 42,023 barangays.
NSO Administrator Carmelita Ericta for her part appealed to all Filipino households to give time for the census interview to be conducted by enumerators wearing an official 2010 CPH ID, which will take about 15-30 minutes.
The basic information to be collected will be on the demographic, social and economic characteristics of the population and on the characteristics of their dwellings.
Julag-ay said all Filipinos, including foreigners who have stayed in the country for at least a year, shall be counted, with the reference date which is May 1, 2010. (PIA6/ESS)
