Castro’s 4 vice mayoralty allies defeated
ROXAS CITY – Despite the political influence of outgoing 2nd district Rep. Fredenil Castro in making nine out of ten allied mayors win landslide victories, four of their running mate vice mayors were defeated in the May 10, 2010 elections.
Defeated were incumbent vice mayors: Querubin Pamplona of Dumarao, Edwin Gabucay of Tapaz, Victoria Quirao of Sigma and Isaias Arboleda of Ivisan, all of Lakas Kampi CMD.
Pamplona, who is runningmate of reelected mayor Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamin, lost his bid to Edgar Arancillo, a running mate of Victor Tanco, Jr, son of Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. The younger Tanco lost his mayoralty bid to Benjamin.
Gabucay, a running mate of reelected mayor Rosemarie Gardose, was conquered by Bob Galicto Gardose who is runningmate of Roberto “Nonong” Palomar in Tapaz. Palomar lost to the incumbent lady mayor of Tapaz.
Quirao, a running mate of former Mayor Roberto “Sigbor” Sualog, lost her bid to Councilor Rudy Simon who is a running mate of reelected Mayor Maria Andaya in Sigma and Arboleda, a running mate of reelected Mayor Felipe Yap, was defeated by Marita Mestidio, an independent who is a former ally of Yap.
Castro, who is said to be a political kingpin in the 2nd district, was the former ally of Sen. Mar Roxas in Liberal Party (LP) before he joined the group of former Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante.
