PLDT donates computers for Iloilo City schools
Telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) is giving 30 units of computers to three city schools in a ceremony slated Wednesday.
The Technical Institute of Iloilo City will receive 10 brand new units, while Mandurriao National High School (MNHS) and Tabucan Elementary School (TES) will also receive 10 “refurbished units” each.
PLDT Vice President Jesus Tañedo, Public Affairs Chief Ramon Isberto, Community Relations Department Head Evelyn Del Rosario and Iloilo Customers Service Zone Head Rene Lescano will lead the turn-over at the TIIC Bo. Obrero Campus in Lapuz.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, together with the principals of MNHS and TES, will give their messages upon accepting the computer donations.
A memorandum of agreement between PLDT and recipient schools will likewise be signed in order to make clear their respective responsibilities regarding the donation.
City Executive Assistant for Education Ma. Mathilde Octavio said the units are internet-ready so students can easily accomplish their lessons and research.
The donation will also address the problem of student to computer ratio, she added. (PIO)
