Brothers, relatives gang up, stab dead neighbor
Two brothers and their relatives are now subjects of a manhunt after they alleged ganged up a lone man Sunday afternoon at the basketball court of Eon Centennial Homes in Brgy. Hibao-an, Pavia, Iloilo.
Aside from taking turns in mauling the victim, the suspects also stabbed dead Randy Mamon, 23, also of the said place.
Prior to the incident, reports said that Mamon figured in a heated confrontation against Gino Alimu-on and his brother Jemar.
Several witnesses claimed to have heard Gino provoking Mamon, who was sitting alone inside the basketball court.
The two brothers immediately left.
But when they returned 10 minutes later, they were accompanied by several relatives.
One of the two brothers then approached the victim and told the latter that he could not beat them.
The two then boxed the victim.
Mamon tried to run away from the group.
But the suspects ran after him.
When he was about to be cornered, Mamon grabbed a shovel and tried to defend himself.
One of the suspects then got hold of a wood and attacked the victim but Mamon parried it with his shovel.
It was at this juncture that a certain Loney grabbed both hands of the victims from behind while another relative pulled a knife and stabbed the victim at lower back portion of his body.
Police accounts claimed that three teenagers, who are all minors, witnessed the incident.
After stabbing the victim, all suspects scampered to different directions.
Mamon was rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
The suspects remain at large, as of press time.
