Cabbie robbed, stripped off of his clothes
A taxi driver was robbed early morning of yesterday along Brgy. Poblacion Ilaya, Zarraga, Iloilo.
Aside from the cash of P2,500 taken from driver Jose Montalvo, the robbers had a bonus loot, as they also took with them the clothes, including the underwear, of the victim.
Reports said that Montalvo, 30, of Gustilo St., La Paz, Iloilo City, and driver of Light of Glory Taxi, conveyed three passengers who flagged him down at Brgy. Cuartero, Jaro district.
Montalvo did not suspect about the planned robbery because one of his three passengers was a woman.
The suspects, who are in their 20s, allegedly told the driver that they were going in Zarraga town.
But upon reaching Bangga Mauring in Leganes town, the woman alighted from the vehicle while her companions went on to Zarraga.
As they reached the town proper, the two suspects declared hold-up.
At knife point, they took the victim’s collection of P2,200 and his wallet containing P300.
Montalvo claimed that he offered no resistance for him not to be physically harmed.
The suspects then ordered the victim to undress down to his underwear.
The suspects left on board a waiting motorcycle driven by another person.
Montalvo then radioed his fellow drivers for help.
Some 10 cabbies arrived and helped the victim and brought him a pair of pants and shirt before they proceeded to report the incident to Zarraga Police Station.
A hot pursuit was immediately conducted against the suspects but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Montalvo claimed that he could identify the suspects through their faces.
Zarraga Police Station chief Insp. Elberto Pudadera said that they have yet to identity the suspects.
He expressed possibility that the suspects are not from Zarraga but conducted the robbery in the area to mislead police investigators.
