DepEd sets ALS tests for Visayas regions on Aug. 1
The Department of Education (DepEd) slated the Alternative Learning System (ALS) accreditation and equivalency tests (ALS A&E tests) for three Visayas regions on August 1.
DepEd memorandum circular 82 signed by Undersecretary Vilma L.Labrador explained that the examination will be held in two waves; the first covers all regions in the country except National Capital Region (NCR) while the second will be dedicated solely for the NCR.
The examination period for the first wave will be on August 1 and August 15 for the second wave.
DepEd-Western Visayas Resource Mobilization chief and previous ALS coordinator Corazon Puluhan said that applications can still be accepted in registration and testing centers identified in every school division until July 15.
The ALS A&E tests are open to elementary and high school dropouts who are 11 or 15 years old, respectively on or before the day of the exam.
Non passers of previous ALS A&E tests, learners/completers of the ALS programs and youths and adults although in school but overage for Grade 6 if they are more than 11 years old and for 4th year high school if they are more than 15 years old may also take the examinations.
Puluhan said that interested individuals shall apply in person because they have to fill up some forms relative to their taking of the exam.
Meantime, passers of the ALS A&E tests will be given a diploma which they can use as ticket to enroll for another level; secondary for those who passed the elementary A&E exam and tertiary education for those who passed the secondary A&E test. (PNA)
