DTI, PRA launch ‘Balik Eskwela Diskwento’
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo in partnership with the Philippine Retailers’ Association (PRA)–Iloilo Chapter will launch the “Balik Eskwela Diskwento” program. The first ever to be conducted here in Iloilo, “Balik Eskwela Diskwento” is a month long activity that will start on June 1 until June 30. It is aimed at ensuring that basic school supplies like writing and intermediate pads, notebooks and school uniforms are available at affordable prices and of good quality.
PRA-Iloilo Chapter led by Mr. Francis Chung of New Island Bazaar and its 26 strong members are involved in this project. The association has committed to sell their school supplies at low or discounted rates on retail basis only.
“We are reducing our prices by as much as 5%–10% compared to other stores,” Mr. Chung assured. He added, “PRA-Iloilo is supporting the Department of Trade and Industry in its efforts to help ease the burden of high and rising prices of these school supplies on consumer’s purchasing power”.
On his part, Iloilo Provincial Director Wilhelm M. Malones stated, “the Balik Eskwela Diskwento” is a show of commitment of DTI-Iloilo and the PRA-Iloilo to ensure that basic goods will always be available at affordable prices. It is a basic right of every consumer to get best value for his hard-earned money.”
The 26 members of PRA-Iloilo that have signified their commitment to join the activity are the following: Iloilo Society Commercial – Aldeguer and Ortiz branches, Gaisano Capital City, Gaisano Guanco, New Island Bazar, Iloilo Supermart and all its branches, Washington Commercial, LEDI Supermart and all its branches, New Master Bazar, Shanghai Bazar, Marketplace, Otani Bazar, Allan Commercial, IZEEM Commercial, Fortune Bazar, Niña Commercial, Elsans, Diamond Shopping Center and Rojas Mini Mart.
Malones added, “the DTI-Iloilo and PRA-Iloilo has forged a deal to continuously provide consumers with quality products at affordable prices. Consumers can look forward to more similar joint projects of DTI-Iloilo and PRA-Iloilo in the future.” (Felisa Judith Degala)
