NEDA 6 puts up dev’t database
The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is establishing a Regional Development Database System that will be useful for planning, policy-making, proposal preparation, and monitoring.
NEDA 6 Regional Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal said the database will include socio-economic statistics, indicators, pictures of major programs/projects, location and thematic maps that will later be translated into a geo-reference database system that will further enhance physical and socio-economic development planning at the regional and local levels.
Bacal said that while established primarily for NEDA 6 staff and the Regional Development Council, the database will also be made available to researchers, local government units, the academe, business firms, and the general public.
Towards this, NEDA 6 will conduct a one-day workshop for planning and database officers of national government agencies and LGUs on June 24 to validate the initial table formats that have been drafted for the four major development planning sectors, namely macro and development administration, economic, social, and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Development Administration Committee of the RDC will gather at NEDA’s Jalaur Hall, June 4 for its second quarterly meeting to discuss its activities for the rest of the year and other concerns including the preparations for the briefing of newly elected local officials.
The briefing will be spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to develop and enhance the capabilities of incoming local officials as managers for local development. (PIA 6)
