Immigration officers nab American missionary
An alleged American missionary was arrested Monday at the Dumangas Port in Dumangas, Iloilo.
Members of the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) National Capital Region – South collared Bryan Keith Alfredson by the strength of a mission order over the latter’s lack of papers for his stay in the country.
BID personnel declined to give an interview following Alfredson’s arrest.
The American was temporarily detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 1 before he was transported to Manila for proper disposition of his case.
It was gathered that aside from his BID problem, Alfredson has to answer a grave oral defamation charge filed by a pastor.
According to Pastor Aldrin Arroz of the Nabulao Baptist Church in Sipalay, Negros Occidental, he filed the case after the American accused him of stealing his belongings.
“Gin-reklamo ko siya kay hambal niya ginkawat ko ang gamit niya. Naghambal pa gani siya sa isa ka kagawad sa amon nga lugar nga isa ako ka kawatan,” Arroz said.
Information claimed that the American went to Sipalay City as a missionary.
However, Alfredson allegedly did not use the fund intended by their congregation for the purpose.
Instead, reports said that he used for his personal gains.
