Ayala’s TechnoHub seen to boost investments in Iloilo City
The newest giant investment to enter this city has broken ground Friday at the Riverside Boardwalk in Mandurriao district.
Iloilo-AyalaLand TechnoHub of AyalaLand Inc. will soon rise in the said business and entertainment area, where they will put up three buildings for business process outsourcing (BPO) and information and communications technology (ICT) companies.
Each building is worth about P305 million.
“Ayala will have the market for BPO and ICT,” Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said during the groundbreaking ceremony.
Iloilo City is the region’s center of education, graduating almost 18,000 graduates every year. It has been a rich source of manpower for firms who choose this southern city for their investments.
The local chief executive admitted it was hard luring BPO investors because the city lacked the required infrastructure.
“There were a lot of call centers and BPO who wanted to open their business immediately, but we can’t provide them space,” he stated.
Treñas expressed confidence that more investments from Ayala and from other companies will be established here following the IT park project.
He said Ilonggos are always supportive of the needs of ICTs and BPOs, now reaching more than a dozen as of the last count.
Friday’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Senator-elect Franklin Drilon, AyalaLand President Antonino Aquino, other officers and members of AyalaLand and affiliate companies, city officials, entrepreneurs, and other private groups and individuals. (PIO)
