Land developers urged to invest in Iloilo City
Major players and companies in the land development business are encouraged to invest in Iloilo City.
City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that the city is ripe for residential and condominium infrastructures. He hoped that land developers would find the city conducive for their architectural innovations and building designs.
Treñas admitted that that the city lacks infrastructures, including residential areas for its young professionals. He also said that this is the reason some investors prefer other cities such as Bacolod and Cebu over Iloilo.
Once the infrastructure and residential sector is fully addressed, investments will definitely surge, said Treñas.
Meanwhile, incoming city mayor Jed Mabilog also said that the city needs land developers considering that the city is growing at a fast pace. He admitted that the exponential growth of business would mean that more jobseekers will come in, too.
Mabilog said that the city population is also expected to increase. He pointed out that the people would definitely look for decent residential areas to settle down.
Leah Lara of the Iloilo Business Club (IBC) said that big-time land developers would find the city ideal since it has great tax incentives and the local government reaches out to the private sectors. She said that the local business community has always been at ease with the taxation and business climate imposed by the city. (PNA)
