BIR-Capiz completes top Capiceño taxpayers’ list
ROXAS CITY – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 72 has completed the list of top individual and corporate taxpayers in the province for taxable year 2009.
“The list includes 300 individual and 150 corporate taxpayers,” said BIR-Capiz Revenue District Officer Gil Tabanda during a Philippine Information Agency (PIA) – led media interaction here.
Tabanda added that the names of top taxpayers will be published in the local and national dailies upon the approval of BIR Commissioner Joel L. Tan-Torres to encourage other taxpayers to follow their example and contribute more to nation-building.
The names will also be posted at the BIR website, www.bir.gov.ph.
A Revenue Memorandum Order (RMO) has directed RDOs nationwide to submit the list of 2009’s top individual and corporate taxpayers in their respective areas after the April 15, 2010 income tax payment deadline.
Section 71 of the Tax Code in part states that “The Commissioner may, in each year, cause to prepare and publish in any newspaper the lists containing the names and addresses of persons who have filed income tax returns.” (PIA/A.Lumaque)
