RDC VI holds 2nd Quarter Regular Meeting for CY 2010
The Province of Aklan hosted the 2nd Quarter Regional Development Council (RDC-VI) meeting last June 18, 2010 at the One MGM Resort Hotel, Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan. The meeting was well-attended by its members considering that it was the last for the present term of outgoing officials of the Council, ExCom, and Sector Committees. Also present were Aklan Vice-Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo, former Congressman Attorney Allen S. Quimpo, and Ms. Vicky Ramos-Antonino of the Aklan Provincial Council.
The body discussed, among others, the budget proposals of 17 regional line agencies and 11 SUCs for CY 2011 earlier reviewed and endorsed by the RDC Executive Committee. Aside from confirming the proposed budgets, it was suggested that the Secretariat and the Development Administration Committee review the list of agencies required to present their proposals to the RDC, since it was observed that some important agencies were not invited to present their budgets, e.g. DOST, DILG, DOTC agencies.
Area Manager Efren Nagrama of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines gave a briefing on the status of the Caticlan Airport Development Project and provided updates on the expansion and improvement of the existing airport to meet international standards.
The meeting also provided a venue for the signing of the memorandum of agreement and turnover of checks to the Western Visayas State University and the Capiz State University who are the latest recipients of the NEDA Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP) RP-Japan Grant for Underprivileged Farmers Funds for the production of native darag chicken and mushroom production, respectively.
A total of 15 resolutions were passed in relation to matters raised by the four major RDC-VI Sector Committees during the meeting.
In recognition for their efforts to make RDC VI one of the most productive Councils in the country, plaques of appreciation were awarded to the Sector Committee Chairpersons, Co-Chairpersons and Public Sector Representatives for their invaluable contribution and active involvement in the various activities of the Regional Development Council-Region VI during their 3-year term from 2007 to 2010.
The meeting also served as a despedida for the outgoing RDC VI officials led by Governor Salvacion Z. Perez of Antique as Chairperson and Mr. Wilfredo J. Homicillada of PROCESS Foundation as Co-Chairperson whose term will end on June 30, 2010. (Juvelyn Boniba/RDC6)
