100 firearms issued to Capiz policemen
ROXAS CITY – One hundred units of 9mm caliber pistols were distributed by the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) to its police stations in line with the Philippine National Police’s Modernization Program and Capability Enhancement Plan, a report of the Philippine Information Agency said.
“These stuff do not only enhance our firepower but also (boost) your morale being the recipients. Take good care of these firearms entrusted to us by our government,” said Capiz police director, Senior Supt. Josepheus Angan in a CPPO blogsite.
The brand new firearms were made of Taurus, Stoeger and Tanfoglio brands.
The recent listing of personnel with no-issued firearms available has been the basis of CPPO in the distribution of guns.
Recipients were CPPO and Capiz Provincial Public Safety Company with 14 and 10 pistols, respectively, while the while the police stations of Roxas City, Pilar, Panay, Panitan, President Roxas, Pontevedra, Maayon, Sigma, Ivisan, Dao, Cuartero, Sapian, Tapaz, Dumalag, Dumarao, Mambusao and Jamindan also received guns.
Angan also reminded the recipients to use the guns “as a last resort when all peaceful means were exhausted.”
A familiarization and gun safety lecture to all recipients was conducted by the Provincial Human Resource Doctrine and Development section to avoid accidental firing.
