Second flyover in IIoilo City opens today
The second fly-over in Iloilo City worth P386.5 million will open today to help mitigate local traffic congestion.
The opening rites will be attended by Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson, Senator Franklin Drilon, Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas, and Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, a Philippine Information Agency report said.
The project was started in December 22, 2009.
Public Works Regional Director Rolando Asis said the 315-linear meter Jalandoni-General Luna Flyover has five spans and four piers with a total length of 195 lineal meters and road approaches of 120 lineal meters.
It is made of modular superstructure materials supplied by the French supplier, Matiere S.A.S.
The new flyover will also complement the Infante Flyover which was constructed by PBPO and completed under the assistance from the United Kingdom in December 2007.
It is implemented under the Department of Public Works and Highways resident’s Bridge Program Office under Assistant Secretary Sadain, and a pilot flyover project constructed under the French-assisted Mega Bridges for Urban and Rural Development Project.
