Groundbreaking for Ajuy core shelter units held
The Department of Social Welfare and Development 6 held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 100 units of core shelter for typhoon Frank victims in Ajuy, Iloilo on July 9.
DSWD 6 Regional Director Minda Brigoli led the rites with Ajuy Mayor Juanito Alvarez and the other local officials, the Philippine News Agency reported.
The P5-million fund for the construction was released by the DSWD central office on June 22.
Each of the core shelter unit costs of P50,000.
Julian Ledesma of the DSWD 6 said the beneficiaries of these core shelter units will have their labor as their counterpart for the project.
Alvarez said he wanted the project to be finished within the next three months.
The core shelter units are located in Brgy. San Antonio where there are also 100 housing units being constructed under the Habitat for Humanity with a donation from Kris Aquino, sister of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
