Stop robberies, guv tells police
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor has ordered the Iloilo Provincial Police Office to stop robberies in the province and solve the three holdup incidents that took place in different towns recently.
“I have talked to the provincial police director (Senior Supt. Renato Gumban) and directed him to immediately act on these incidents,” Defensor said in a Capitol press release.
Defensor said he has also asked Gumban to brief him on the peace and order situation of the province and his strategies on how to address criminalities in Iloilo.
The governor’s order came after a robbery holdup in a grocery store in Bingawan, where six men carted away P116,000 cash, assorted jewelry valued at P50,000 and grocery items amounting P5,000.
It was the third robbery in the province this month. Last week, six holdup men also hit a passenger bus in Estancia, divesting passengers of P61,000 in cash, assorted jewelry, and cellular phones.
Earlier, a rice trading couple was also robbed in Concepcion town where they lost P100,000 to three armed men.
“I want these robbers arrested and I don’t want to hear anymore reports about robberies. These should stop. And those that had already happened must be solved immediately,” Defensor said.
