Lending collectors, couple robbed in Iloilo
Two lending collectors of Taytay Sang Kauswagan Inc., a non-government organization involved in micro-financing, were robbed by two motorcycle-riding men at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday in Brgy. Agusipan, Badiangan town.
The victims, Ernie Muyco, 29, of Calinog, Iloilo, and Christian Rigor, 28, of Maasin, Iloilo, were on board a motorcycle on the way to their office when the robbers waylaid them and took their P19,000 collection.
The robbers, who covered their face with t-shirts as improvised bonnet, poked a gun and knife at them. One of them attempted to stab the victims.
At 7:45 p.m. on Monday, three men also robbed a couple along Sara Road in Passi City.
Junk shop owner Antero Golez, 48, and his wife Gloria, were on their way home when robbers on board a motorcycle blocked their way and stole P19,000 from them.
Senior Supt. Renato Gumban, director of Iloilo Police Provincial Office, said the Chiva-Fajardo Group is behind the two robbery incidents on Monday.
Gumban said the same group could be responsible for the robberies in the third district of Iloilo and its neighboring areas.
With around 20 members, the group is composed of remnants of robbery groups who were already neutralized.
But the police would now refer to them as the Chiva Group because they have a lone leader identified as Jenel Chiva, whose members include his brothers and cousins.
