DSWD turns over 500 houses in Jaro
The Department of Social Welfare and Development 6 has turned over 500 housing units to beneficiaries in Brgy. San Isidro in Jaro district under a housing project worth P35 million.
Julian Ledesma, head of the DSWD 6 Crisis Intervention Unit and in-charge of Disaster Management, said the beneficiaries are those left homeless by Typhoon Frank two years ago.
Ledesma said the city government also provided a counterpart by providing lots, initiating “food-for-work” and “cash- for-work” programs, and hiring skilled workers.
Similar housing projects are also being implemented in Ajuy, Iloilo with a budget of P5 million; Anini-y, Antique, P4.3 million; and Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, P3.5 million.
