Are grafters in the Aquino administration hibernating?
The Philippines will not return to her pre-war prosperity, honor, and glory unless government officials and employees who are true Christians in the strictest sense of the word, practice their faith to God and apply teachings on honesty, sincerely, and fear of God.
Statistics show that 80 percent of government officials and employees are Catholics; 16 percent Protestants and Charismatic-born again Christians; 2 percent other religions. If only 80 percent of Catholics apply the teachings of God honestly and reverently, government machinery will function smoothly and graft and corruption will be the thing of the past. The Charismatic born-again Christians I suppose may follow God’s teachings as the method of imparting God’s words is intense and detailed. I don’t know about the teachings of non-Christian employees as they have Mohammad or Allah to worship.
The Philippines as in the days of President Osmeña, President Roxas, Senator Camilo Osias, and Senator Claro M. Recto to mention only few honest and God-fearing politicians. The Philippines then was first in Asia on economic progress, culture, and science. Japan then was a world power but economically inadequate and that’s the reason why she went to war with other Asian countries, including the Philippines. After the war, the Philippines slowly became graft-ridden and the worse was in the Arroyo administration.
It is hoped that President Aquino will succeed in eliminating graft and corruption in his government. Many grafters are still in the government service and are waiting for an opportune time to practice their dirty trade. In the Arroyo administration, three leading graft-ridden government agencies are the Department of Public Works and Highways, Bureau of Customs, and the Department of Agriculture. Lately in the Arroyo regime, the Department of Finance was included as the most graft-ridden office.
Are the dishonest government officials and employees not human beings that when they steal the people’s money, thousands of poor, poverty-stricken, and hungry people are affected inasmuch as spending their money on the afflicted Filipinos, millions of pesos go to the pocket of crooks in the government. Do they have conscience and mindset that God loves honest people and hates dishonesty? Why spend more on luxurious items over and above their monthly and yearly income? And then go to stealing the government money. Why can’t they not live within their means instead of satisfying their lust for the flesh, money and vices?
President Aquino should talk to bishops, priests, pastors, and other church leaders and start the religious revolution among government officials and employees that there is no substitute for honesty as this is the commandment of God that “an honest man/woman is the best creation of God.” “Thou shalt not steal,” God commands in Ten Commandments. Are the grafters in the Aquino administration just hibernating and waiting for an opportunity to strike again?*
