City Hall doesn’t need new workers–mayor
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the city government will no longer entertain applicants for “casuals” or “job hires” to regulate manpower at City Hall.
Mabilog said he prefers to rehire old employees who are computer literate and can work under minimum supervision. The mayor said the department heads are empowered to retain their casual workers.
Mabilog said he will accept only 75 percent of the 4,000 casual workers who have worked under the administration of former Mayor Jerry Treñas.
“Old job hires and casuals are already included in the 75 percent manpower (limit),” he said.
The applicants were told by Mabilog to apply to their previous department heads as he discourages them from applying before his office because recommendations are no longer needed to rehire them.
People's Day
Mabilog said he will schedule a People’s Day every Tuesday and Thursday to receive “people from all walks of life,” at the city hall.
He said Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will be the Mayor’s Day so that he can have enough time to perform his functions as the city chief executive.*
