40 families in Iloilo recipients of GK houses
Forty families whose houses were destroyed by floods during typhoon Frank and displaced because of the construction of the Iloilo Flood Control Project have been identified as recipients of houses built at the Jose Maria (Rusty) E. Cacho Gawad Kalinga Village in Brgy. San Isidro, Jaro in Iloilo City.
GK Panay coordinator Peter Tiu said the 40 houses are just initial structures as they look forward to the completion of additional 20 houses.
He said the recipients are from the various districts of the city who are not just homeless but landless as well.
The E. Cacho GK Village was funded by the Chameleon of France and the Cacho Family.
The turnover ceremony set on August 6 will be attended by GK chairman and founder Antonio “Tony” Meloto.
Tiu also said the Assumption GK Village funded by Assumption Iloilo in line with its centennial celebration will also rise this year in Brgy. San Isidro.
The school will launch a coffee table book featuring the various recipes of its alumni and officials in a partnership forum on August 7 and the project proceeds will be used to fund the construction of 30 houses at the village.
They are also waiting for the approval of the Panay Electric Company board of directors for another proposed village of 30 houses, also in San Isidro. PNA
