ROXAS CITY – The Commission on Elections here is now preparing for the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in October.
Roxas City Election Officer Jomar Alyzar Betita said they are now verifying the list of registers voters of Roxas City.
“We already received the go signal for the conduct of registration of voters on August 6 to 15 for the SK elections,” Betita said.
Young people 15 years old and above but below 18 years old on the day of the elections on October 25, 2010 are qualified to register.
Requirements for registration are six months residency, original copy of certificate of livebirth, however, baptismal certificate in the absence of said certificate of livebirth is acceptable, or valid identification card bearing the date of birth.
Unless Congress will speed up and prioritize the bill to defer this year’s barangay elections, the exercise will push through on October 25, Betita said.
He said they are also looking into the voter’s lists to finalize the list of registered voters for the barangay elections, aside from preparing for the conduct of the registration of new voters for the barangay polls.
They are also in the process of clustering the precincts for a maximum of three precincts per barangay, at 400 voters per precinct.
He said that for Roxas City, they are estimating 250 clustered precincts for the barangay polls.
