Guv hoping for compromise deal on health hazard pay
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said yesterday he is hoping that the Iloilo Health Workers Association will accept his proposal on the granting of their hazard pay.
Defensor told Capitol reporters that he met with the officers and members of IHWA to offer a compromise agreement – to grant the hazard pay and the subsistence and laundry allowances of health workers retroactive to January this year.
He said the compromise agreement has no effect on the demand of health workers for payment of their hazard pay in previous years.
It does not also mean that the health workers will be forced to waive their previous claims, he added.
“Anyway the Court decision regarding their protest does not say that the provincial government will pay their back hazard pay,” Defensor said. “I believe they (IHWA) will accept the compromise agreement. Otherwise, we can do nothing.”
