Mabilog mapping out city’s progress, direction
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has directed the City Planning and Development Office to finalize the content of the city’s comprehensive development plan for the next three years.
In a Philippine News Agency report, Butch Peñalosa of the CPDO said the development plan will provide a more sensible guide on what the city will do until 2013.
It will include the mayor’s 10-point agenda for the city.
All sectors of the community should have inputs in the comprehensive development plan and its content must be discussed with all members of the local development council, stakeholders, and the private sector, Peñalosa said.
The city’s progress and direction is spelled out in the development plan, especially in terms of economics, education, environment, good governance and peace and order.
Peñalosa said the mayor also wanted the development plan to focus on investment programs and to work on the sources of funds for various projects.
Mabilog will present the three-year comprehensive development plan to the Sangguniang Panlungsod to request their support.
The mayor will definitely focus his executive agenda in this plan, Peñalosa said.
He said the city government was also set to discuss the plan with all 180 village heads during the local development council meeting yesterday as they should also be familiar with the various projects planned by the Mabilog administration.
Once they are informed of the city’s goals in terms of economics, environment and good governance, they can focus their projects and programs in line with the vision of the city government, Peñalosa said.
The village chiefs will also be asked for their inputs, along with the academe, non-government organizations, business community, the city department heads, and the planning team.
