July 15-Aug. 15 declared Assumption Centennial Month
The Sangguniang Panlungsod has proclaimed the period July 15 to August 15, 2010 as Assumption Centennial Month Celebration, and August 15, 2010 as Assumption Day in Iloilo City.
The proclamation is embodied in the resolution unanimously approved by the City Council during its session last July 14.
The resolution states that Assumption Iloilo will celebrate its 100 years of existence as a “Christ centered and transformative” educational institution in Iloilo City, and in line with this celebration Assumption Iloilo has embarked on a month-long centennial celebration from July 15 to August 15, 2010 with a series of activities and events.
Councilor Joshua Alim moved for the approval of the resolution, co-sponsored by Councilor Nielex Tupas, and seconded by Councilor Lyndon Acap.
Among the major activities of the Assumption Centennial Month Celebration are the Family Fun Run on August 8 and the Assumption Centennial Fair on August 11.
