EYE OPENER
President Aquino should seek God daily
President Nonoy Aquino is not only facing the grafters and corrupters in his administration as remnant of the previous regime, but also the destructive Filipino values of utang na loob, padrino, palakasan, palusot, pakikisama (negative value), kumpare, and a lot of others which may eventually lead to weaken his government. His present Cabinet members though not publicly known to have been involved in misdemeanor in the government service, may have been scrutinized very well by his closest colleagues like Senator Mar Roxas, former Chief Justice Davide, Senator Franklin Drilon, and former justices of the Supreme Court.
Noynoy should device a scheme where he has to put proven religious leaders they may be Catholic, Pentecostal and Born Again Christians including clean-slate businessmen and educational leaders.
The new president should live up to his motto, “Kung Walang Kurap, Walang Mahirap.” Many know that Noynoy is sincere in his election promises to make his government truly the government of the people especially the poor and the underprivileged. But has President Aquino formed his own “Integrity” advisers to advise him but not dictate on who are the people behind him. Are these people who have vested interests in their own private way before?
Was he right in justifying the “kamag-anak” of Secretary Abad that there was nothing wrong in employing the secretary’s close relatives? So far, no negative comment has been made in the press on his justification of the Abad siblings. Let’s wait and see!
Senator Manuel Roxas II should have been the best person to head Aquino’s Cabinet but of course the senator has to wait for one year before he is included in Aquino’s trusted family. Roxas would be the best teammate of Noynoy Aquino as they were together in the hectic political campaign for many months. Aquino should also relinquish his interest in the Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac. His campaign promise though was to sell his share in the controversial hacienda which his mother and father honestly labored for when they were still young.
Anyway, Aquino is thinking not of the next election but of the next generation. His parents are both heroes and Noynoy will strive to become one when he steps down six years from now. Aquino’s main concern now is how to make the poor eat three square meals a day and the homeless live in a decent home free from the inconvenience of nature. God loves the poor and poverty-stricken and if the new president is God’s true son, and prays for the afflicted people then the windows of heaven will open and pour blessings to his people. Seek God, President Aquino and direct your daily governance towards the Holy Trinity – Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
