Cebu marks 45 million passengers, launches 50% discount in all routes
Cebu Pacific recently flew its 45 millionth passenger from Incheon (Seoul, South Korea) to Cebu, and marked the milestone with a 50 percent-off seat sale to all its 33 domestic and 16 international destinations.
The 50-percent off seat sale is from July 30 to August 1, for travel from October 1 to November 30, 2010.
Jae-Soo Hur, a Korean who has previously visited Cebu and Boracay by flying Cebu Pacific, was in the departure area when his name was called as the airline’s 45 millionth passenger.
He was awarded two Cebu Pacific Incheon-Cebu-Incheon air tickets by Cebu Pacific representatives Chris Kim and KS Kang, joined by Incheon International Airport Corp. Aviation Marketing Director Tae-Soo Yuh.
“I like going to Cebu on Cebu Pacific because the ticket fare is very attractive and I think that “Go Lite” is a good idea. In my opinion, no-frills airlines like Cebu Pacific are better for young people like me because the savings on airline fares can be used for other activities. The flight schedule of Cebu Pacific is also quite convenient for me since I’m an office worker and I can go to the Philippines after work,” Hur said.
Hur was also awarded a two-night stay in a Mactan seaview suite with breakfast, courtesy of the Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa in Cebu.
“Cebu Pacific can only grow even further, now that we have passed the 45 millionth passenger mark. We began in 1996 with three domestic destinations, and now we are set to launch our 15th and 16th international destinations – Brunei and Beijing,” Candice Iyog, vice president for marketing and distribution, said.
The 50 percent seat sale included destinations such as Boracay (Caticlan), Puerto Princesa, Bacolod, Iloilo and Davao, as well as Osaka, Incheon, Singapore, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Bangkok, Kota Kinabalu, Pusan and Jakarta.
Data of Civil Aeronautics Board showed that Cebu Pacific overtook Philippine Airline’s passenger numbers in the first quarter of 2010, making it the Philippine’s largest airline.
Cebu Pacific operates the youngest aircraft fleet in the country, and garnered an 89.45 percent on-time performance in the first half of 2010, higher than the industry standard of 85 percent.
